Ex- Barcelona winger may join Akwa United

Former Barcelona of Spain winger, Ezekiel Bassey may soon be unveiled as a player of NPFL side, Akwa United.
Bassey who had played for home-town club, Akwa United in the past before joining neighbours,Enyimba made the surprise switch to Spanish giants Barcelona in 2017 where he turned up for their Team B before journeying again to Iran after failing to trigger a permanent deal.
Bassey’s move to Barcelona B was on an initial six-month deal, with provision to make it permanent for a two-year duration.
His time in Iran was shrouded in silence with the ex- CHAN Super Eagle also failing to make a mark with Paykan FC before he made a detour home.
Newslinkng.com can report that although Bassey has been training with the Akwa United squad currently campaigning in the NPFL, no official statement has been made about his return to the club he left with his head held high four years ago.
With the NPFL heading for mid-season in a couple of weeks, the League Management Company (LMC) is expected to officially open the 2017-18 NPFL mid-season transfer window, where clubs can purchase. Any intended deal for Bassey will definitely have to wait till then.
